North-South Expressway

I am more than happy to share an email which I found very informative. Received from my yahoo group.

"I am a frequent user of our North-South Expressway and I have this IMPORTANT experience to highlight and share:-

I was driving back to Penang yesterday afternoon (24 June 08) when I saw the unfortunate accident in the opposite direction involving the passenger bus that skidded and overturned at Tanjung Malim. I didn't know that the skidded bus was from hometown Penang until I watched TV3 news later in the evening and was shocked to learn that the accident took two lives.

Now, this is what I need to share:-

I am a building contractor with over twenty years of experience and I have been driving my 5 series BMW (latest generation and a dammed solid road holding car) each time I travelled to KL. Lately, the new extended 3 lanes highway had been opened up for use and since then, I have also been using it quite oftenly.

HOWEVER, when I used it each time it is WET, I can really 'feel' that the new road surface is extremely SLIPPERY! To share with some of you, my car comes with a built-in traction control mechanism (skidding prevention mechanism) and you can feel it each time it is activated. Previously, I don't come across this kind of slippery feel except when I drive over a paddle of water at certain speed.

>From my observation as a building contractor, the 'wearing course' of the new road surface could be TOO FINE OR TOO SMOOTH and TOTALLY UNSUITABLE for highway use!

The wearing course (top premix layer) mix design for highways should be of minimum 20mm coarse aggregate mix that will give us the required bond between the surface and our tires. Fine wearing course (14mm coarse aggregate size and below) is only suitable for normal road. (A proper test need to be carried out to determine the mix design of the wearing course).

Since the opening of the three lanes highway, I had seen cars skidding in front me or in the opposite direction and approximately 2 weeks ago, one of my friends who is also a frequent user of our NSE, came to share with me about his slippery feeling as well as the many skidded cars he had seen lately.

I am highlighting this to TV3 and The Star with the hope that a thorough investigation could be carried out immediately to find out how or what causes the bus to skid. A proper and independent test need to be carried out urgently to determine the design mix of the wearing course. THIS CAN SAVE LIVES.

KEMPEN BUMI HIJAU

KEMPEN BUMI HIJAU..sebenarnya telah lama dilancarkan oleh Kementerian Asas Tani ketika zaman di bawah pemerintahan Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin kalau tak silap tahun 2006. Biarlah dah lama dasar ini diperkenalkan padahal kempen ini dahulunya dikenali sebagai KEMPEN BUKU HIJAU.

Sedikit penjelasan berkenaan Kempen Bumi Hijau yang diambil dari laman sesawang Perpabadan Putrajaya, boleh baca di sini.

"Kempen ini menggalakkan amalan bercucuk tanam tanaman makanan berkonsepkan laman dapur atau ‘edible landscape’, secara menanam tanaman bersesuaian dengan ruang sedia ada dan memenuhi keperluan keluarga. Ia menekankan konsep pengeluaran makanan untuk kegunaan sendiri sahaja.

Kempen ini ditujukan kepada semua rakyat dengan sasaran utama adalah penduduk taman perumahan, penghuni rumah pangsa dan murid-murid sekolah.

Anak-anak pokok pula ditanam di dalam bekas mudah alih seperti pasu, polibeg dan seumpamanya atau di atas tanah. Jenis tanaman yang dipilih terdiri daripada sayur-sayuran, daun dan buah, herba dan ulam-ulaman yang boleh dituai secara berterusan."

Pagi ini ketika mahu keluar ke PD ambil Alia, aku lihat mertua aku dan Kak Ida kemain sibuk kat depan rumah. Dari jauh aku boleh nampak kotak gabus warna putih yang biasanya dibuat isi air batu + ikan etc, guni berisi tanah dan macam-macam lagi.

Nampaknya mereka memang bersungguh-sungguh, siap Kak Ida ambil tanah gambut entah dari mana. Kak Ida beritahu kotak gabus tu ambil dari belakang Econsave, terbuang kira mereka ni menggunakan barangan terbuang. Langkah yang bagus tambahan pula kotak gabus ini tidak mesra alam.

Sebenarnya ini semua adalah tambahan kepada kebun di lereng tepi padang yang diusahakan oleh Ayah mertua aku..selamat maju jaya kepada semua penyokong Projek Bumi Hijau.

Avillion Admiral Cove

Since I'm so bored staying at home for one hold day alone, in the evening decided to "makan angin" to Port Dickson..first time since working, Alia going out station and leave me alone. What a bored day. Now I know how her feeling when I go outstation. This is life, we have to get use with it.



Avillion Admiral Cove is waterfront resort and have 156 rooms namely superior, deluxe and straits studio rooms. Before I only know this area is Admiral Marina where is exclusive for boat owner. As for the first time been here I am very amaze with the surrounding. This area actually under Avillion Hotel Group Flagship.



I wish I can have a house similar as above, where you can watch sunset, where you have a boat at your backyard and faced Straits of Malacca. A perfect house. The price ?? Just imaging a unit condo adjacent to the marina is RM300K per unit so just imaging for my dream house..

JANDA BAIK??

As government urge all departments and agencies to reduce number of event at hotel, MMU approach totally different as for the first time a workshop held at hotel and in 3 years Alia serve this university this is the first so call training/workshop she attend/invited.

The company I'm working now have a policy where by every person have to attend at least 40 hours training (1st line in People Development, part of overall KPI). Unfortunately when you are working with TPS, where everything you do by your self it's hard to find time to attend training even harder to find suitable training because Sime Darby Industrial (formarly known as Tractors Malaysia (1982) Sdn bhd) training division more concentrate for mass training so for sure more on CAT Engine training. Nowadays ESQ training is very popular in our company, 3 days training held at Summit Hotel unfortunately my service going to expired soon so no training for me.

16 Julai Hari Tidak Berbelanja

Menonton Warta Perdana TV1. Beberapa NGO termasuk FOMCA akan menganjurkan HARI TIDAK BERBELANJA pada 16 Julai 2008.

Dari website Fomca mengatakan hari ini adalah hari untuk memberi peluang kepada kita meluangkan mana bersama keluarga dan rakan-rakan daripada membelanjakan wang. Hari untuk menilai pola perbelanjaan dan sebagainya.

Kenaikan harga barang sekarang ini telah membuktikan rakyat telah lebih berhati-hati untuk berbelanja. Semua barang nak naik harga. Tadi aku beli sebiji kelapa muda harganya naik 50sen. Baru minggu lepas aku beli dengan harga lama. Alasan penjual, "pembekal naik harga lah bang".

Sehari boikot barang boleh mengubah sikap penjual ke? Apapun tak salah untuk mencuba dan kita lihat hasilnya..

p/s: Dengar khabar angin penjualan petrol di stesen minyak Petronas turun 15%. Nampaknya nanti bila keuntungan berkurangan Petronas bayar kepada kerajaan pun kurang. Masa tu nak boikot apa pulak?

Aku juga benci dengan perkembangan politik di Malaysia dewasa ini yang terlalu banyak mengaibkan orang. Mufti Perlis, Dr. Mohd. Asri Zainul Abidin meminta mereka (Saiful Bahari dan DSAI) supaya bermubahalah. Baca di sini.

Mubahalah bermaksud bersumpah laknat.

Tidak salah rasanya diambil pendekatan ini memandangkan keduanya adalah penganut Islam.

Jawatankuasa Perwakilan Pelajar (JPP)

Aku pernah berbincang/berbual kosong dengan pakcik aku (pengarah di sebuat universiti tempatan) berkenaan dengan JPP masa kini. Kebimbangan terbesar beliau ketika itu ialah trend JPP sekarang. JPP menggunakan pangkat mereka itu untuk mula berjinak-jinak sebagai orang kanan menteri/orang politik.

Mengapa mereka mahu jadi orang kanan menteri/ahli politik tidaklah diketahui. Fenomena ini mengakibatkan mereka lebih banyak concentrate dengan aktiviti luarnya compare dengan pelajaran mereka sendiri..

Nampaknya apa yang dikhuatirkan oleh pakcik aku nie ada betulnya...contoh terbaik bekas Timbalan Presiden pelajar UNITEN yang sedang glamour nie...pelajaran hanyut....cukuplah banyak dah blog yang tulis pasal dia

Apapun aku tetap benci dengan semua nie sebab penyumbang kepada kekuatiran pelabur luar untuk datang melabur...ishhh....jatuh lautlah ekonomi Malaysia cam nie...

Invitation to attend Structured Interview (SI)

Everybody in my office curious, how I get offer from PETRONAS. Well it is not an easy jobs. I don't have friends inside who are willing to submit my resume on behalf of me, so I have to go by normal procedure. I get my self registered with PETRONAS website way back in January 2008. I do click apply on few position in various OPU advertise in the website unfortunately no luck. The best about been registered with this site is I keep on getting email from their auto announcement vacancies available and your resume are made available for all OPU HR to review.



Finally on 20th February 2008, I received an invitation email from Saiful Raidzwan of Group Talent Sourcing to attend so call Structured Interview (SI).

On why I start looking for other jobs....I am quite sure I am going to be freeze if I'm staying in TPS..two times been propose by my immediate boss to be promoted but nothing happen. Every time others promoted sure my immediate boss ask about my self...ohhh man is this also office politic.

TPS gave me a lot of experience and lesson..among the best is the question on who you are working for?
Either, you are working for the company or you are working for the boss and always...if you are working for the boss than you are easier to get advancement ...lesson learned.
